Maritime English

Maritime English provides marine engineering and nautical students with the necessary English language skills and knowledge to exercise their marine duties as future officers. More specifically, students are trained to:

1 Understand and use charts, nautical publications and marine machinery manuals.

2 Use IMO Standard Marine Communication Phrases in their written and oral form.

3 Become acquainted with ship and the cargo standard documents (i.e. Charter Party, Bill of Lading, Captain's declaration, Cargo manifest, Notice of Readiness, Mate's Receipt).

4 Properly deal with reports and shipping business correspondence.
